All our wood trims receive an exterior grade, oiled finish that is easily maintained. Unlike varnish no sanding is required to refinish and the result has a more natural appearance. When applied with wet/dry paper with steel wool, successive oiling leads to a deep luster finish. While our wood trim receives several coats in our care these applications can be drawn into the grain of the very dry wood. We recommend subsequent oiling in the first few months to ensure good weather resistance early in the life of your canoe. After that, one or two coats per year, depending on use or storage, is sufficient.
» Bluewater Wood Trim canoes come standard with scuppered inwales in the area of the yoke and on the end decks. This allows water to drain and prolongs the life of your wood trim.
» All Saugeen and Classic Series canoes come standard with brass stembands.
» All hardware used in the construction of Bluewater canoes is Stainless Steel.
