MCF Introduces Golden Braun Infu-Lite

This is the most technologically advanced laminate in the paddlesport industry today. Golden Brawn canoes are built without an exterior layer of Gelcoat. Gelcoat is the pigmented resin which gives canoes their specific colour. Golden Brawn are always clear with a yellow or golden hue showing the colour of the Kevlar fabric through the hull. A skin coat of S-Glass is followed by two full layers of Aramid Kevlar cloth. An additional layer of un-named ultra tensile cloth sandwiches the crosslink foam core bottom. The epoxy resin is infused under pressure, and is evenly distributed throughout the materials, eliminating porosity and assuring a perfect wet out of material to resin ratio. The result, super light, super strong. Like our Nylon Kevlar laminate these canoes are also placed in an oven and baked in an optimum post curing process.

June 2001 - MCF builds Bluewater Canoes

Mid Canada Fiberglass (MCF) based in New Liskeard, Ontario takes over the production of Bluewater Canoes. Gary Barton, the key developer, manager and part owner of Bluewater will travel to MCF to guide them though the start up phase of crafting these fine canoes. In particular, the process of vacuum bagging epoxy laminates with heat curing is an integral part of what makes Bluewater canoes so light and durable.
