Fast, Agile Flared-Hull Canoe Designed as a lightweight, flatwater canoe, the SplitRock combines excellent tracking and resistance to crosswinds with quick acceleration, high speed, and good glide. The unique flared hull provides excellent stability without sacrificing performance. Primarily a solo canoe, it can also be outfitted as a tandem for smaller adults or children. Designer Steve Killing has added a significant amount of flare above the waterline. This keeps the immersed shape of the canoe narrow for easy paddling, but provides a comfortable amount of reserve stability for those times when you miss a stroke. The tumblehome (narrowing) of the hull above the flare minimizes the reach required to clear the gunnels.

Demonstrating the boat at Canoe Expo in the photo (above right) is Bluewater's Gary Barton. Many of the clever construction ideas you see in the Bluewater line are as a result of Gary's unique development skills. His experience as a builder, paddler and national coach are unique in the industry.
